MakeBOF vs Billo: AI product videos or real human creators?

If you're looking for a Billo alternative, the first question is whether you need AI or human UGC. Billo is a marketplace where brands pay real creators to film videos, from $99 a video by Billo's own figures, usually delivered in 7 to 12 business days. MakeBOF uses AI: you paste TikTok Shop products, pick a style, and each one becomes a short vertical video in minutes, for roughly 20 to 38 cents a Standard video on paid plans.

Real creators give you a face, a voice and a personal opinion, and AI product clips have none of those. Below we cover when that's worth $99 and a week or two of waiting, what each option costs at TikTok Shop volume, and how to combine them, with AI videos to test lots of products and creators for the ones that sell.

The short answer

Choose Billo when you need a real person on camera, for a testimonial or a Spark Ad from a creator's handle, and you can pay $99 or more per video and wait 7 to 12 business days. Choose MakeBOF when you need dozens or hundreds of TikTok Shop product videos a month, made from your listings in minutes for well under a dollar each. The two also work well together: test products with MakeBOF, then pay creators to film the ones that sell.

Pick MakeBOF if

  • You post product videos every day across many products or several TikTok accounts
  • You're an affiliate without samples on hand, since MakeBOF works from the listing photos
  • You want to test which products get views before spending $99 or more on any one of them
  • You need videos today, and a Billo order usually takes 7 to 12 business days
  • You want to try it first on the Free plan: 10 credits a month, no card needed

Pick Billo if

  • You need a real person's face and voice, like a testimonial or an unboxing with commentary
  • The product needs a spoken demo, such as how a gadget works or how a jacket fits when someone moves
  • You want to run TikTok Spark Ads from a creator's own handle
  • You've found a winning product and want a human video to scale it with paid ads
  • Your brand or audience wants content made by people, with no AI in it

Pricing: MakeBOF vs Billo

MakeBOF

  • Free$010 credits a month (10 Standard or 5 Premium videos), 20 products, 1 posting account
  • Pro$19/mo50 credits a month, 250 products, 3 posting accounts, 2 videos at once. $190 a year if paid annually.
  • Max$49/mo200 credits a month, 1,000 products, 10 posting accounts, 4 videos at once. $490 a year if paid annually.
  • Scale$99/mo500 credits a month, 5,000 products, 20 posting accounts, 6 videos at once. $990 a year if paid annually.

A Standard video uses 1 credit and a Premium video uses 2. Credits are charged only when a video finishes, so a failed video costs nothing. Subscribers can add credit packs (20 for $7, 60 for $18, 200 for $50) that never expire.

Billo

  • Video packsFrom $99 per videoBought as packs, per Billo's own article. The pricing page redirects to a login, so pack sizes aren't public.
  • CreativeOpsPrice not publishedAn optional subscription, per the same article.

As listed on October 16, 2026, in Billo's own article comparing UGC platforms (dated October 6, 2026), since billo.app's pricing page redirects to a login. $99 is the starting price per video.

What one short video costs

Billo starts at $99 per video, so 30 videos start at $2,970 (30 × $99). We can't give an exact per-video figure because pack sizes and any volume discounts sit behind a login.

On MakeBOF a Standard video uses 1 credit. Pro is $19 for 50 credits, so $19 ÷ 50 = $0.38 a video. Max works out to $49 ÷ 200 = $0.245, and Scale to $99 ÷ 500 = $0.198. Paid annually, Pro is $190 ÷ 600, about $0.32. Premium videos use 2 or more credits, so they cost at least double.

One Billo video at its starting price costs the same as a month of MakeBOF Scale, which covers 500 Standard videos. The $99 does pay for something AI can't give you, though: a real person filming your product.

What is Billo?

Billo is a marketplace for human-made UGC. Brands order videos and creators from its network film them. Billo says it has 5,000+ vetted creators in the US, Canada and the UK.

Its pricing page sends you to a login, so the public numbers come from Billo's own article comparing UGC platforms. Videos start at $99 each and are bought as packs, with an optional CreativeOps subscription whose price isn't given. The same article puts turnaround at "typically 7 to 12 business days" and says you can run TikTok Spark Ads with 30-day codes, so a creator's post can run as your ad.

AI UGC vs human UGC: what each does well

A human creator gives viewers someone to read. They hear a voice, see a face react, and get an opinion like "I've worn these all week." Testimonials, unboxings with commentary and "here's how I use it" demos all need a real person, and for many shoppers that can carry more weight than any product shot.

MakeBOF does a different job. It takes the photos from a TikTok Shop listing, builds a styled scene around the product, turns it into a vertical clip of about 8 seconds and burns on captions with emoji. Nobody talks to camera and there's no voiceover. In return you get volume and speed: a batch runs on its own while you do something else, and each video costs cents.

Where Billo is the better choice

  • Testimonial ads where a person explains why they like the product. MakeBOF has no presenters and no voiceover.
  • Products that sell through a spoken demo, like a kitchen gadget in use or a jacket on someone walking around.
  • Paid ads from a creator's handle. Billo's article says it supports TikTok Spark Ads codes.
  • Brands that want their content made by people, with no AI involved.

If you want a talking person but can't wait a week or pay $99 a video, AI actor tools sit in between. See our comparisons with Arcads and MakeUGC.

Where MakeBOF is the better choice

MakeBOF is built for TikTok Shop affiliates and sellers who post a lot. You paste a product link or a shop or creator username, and it pulls the listings with photos, price and sales. Pick a style, such as a GirlyPop try-on or a "That Price" in-store find, and every video in the batch follows it. There are no prompts or briefs to write.

  • You don't need the product in hand. A creator filming a try-on needs the real item, while MakeBOF works from the listing photos.
  • Testing is cheap. Pro's 50 credits cost $19 and cover 50 Standard videos, less than a fifth of one $99 creator video.
  • Your product list stays current. Sources can be re-scraped automatically every 1, 6, 12 or 24 hours, and finished videos can be sorted by the TikTok account you post from.
  • You only pay for videos that finish. A failed video costs nothing.

Workflow: making 30 product videos in each tool

With Billo

Ordering happens behind Billo's login, so the details may differ, but the shape is the same as any human UGC service. You sign up, order a pack, brief the creators on each product and wait while they film. Each creator needs the physical product, so you'll have to get samples to them. With Billo's quoted 7 to 12 business days, 30 videos ordered on a Monday would arrive in the second or third week. At the $99 starting price they cost at least $2,970.

With MakeBOF

Paste the shop username or the 30 product links, pick a style and queue the batch. Videos generate several at a time (2 at once on Pro, 4 on Max, 6 on Scale), the rest start automatically as slots free up, and you watch progress live. 30 Standard videos use 30 credits, which fits inside Pro's 50 a month for $19. When they're done, you review the clips, sorted by posting account, and post the ones you like.

Cost at real TikTok Shop volume

Posting 5 videos a day across 3 accounts is about 450 videos a month. Here is what common volumes cost at Billo's $99 starting price and on MakeBOF plans, using Standard videos at 1 credit each.

  • 30 videos: Billo from $2,970. MakeBOF Pro, $19 a month.
  • 100 videos: Billo from $9,900. MakeBOF Max, $49 a month, with 200 credits (enough for 100 Premium videos instead).
  • 300 videos: Billo from $29,700. MakeBOF Scale, $99 a month for 500 credits.
  • 450 videos: Billo from $44,550. MakeBOF Scale, $99 a month, with 50 credits left over.

The Billo numbers are floors, because $99 is the starting price, and they don't count the cost of getting samples to creators. At this volume, paying a person to film every product only works with a large budget.

Using both: AI for testing, creators for winners

A common setup is to split the work. Post MakeBOF videos for a wide spread of products and watch which ones pick up views and sales. Once a product proves itself, pay a Billo creator to film a real testimonial or demo for it and run that as your main ad or Spark Ad.

That way the $99 creator videos go to products you already know sell, while cheap AI videos cover the rest, including new listings picked up by an automatic re-scrape.

Questions people ask

How much does Billo cost?

Billo's pricing page needs a login. Its own article on UGC platforms lists videos from $99 each, bought as packs, plus an optional CreativeOps subscription with no published price. Pack sizes and discounts aren't public, so ask Billo for a quote before you set a budget.

Is Billo good for TikTok Shop?

For a few hero videos, yes. Real creators suit TikTok, and Billo supports Spark Ads codes. For daily posting across many products it gets expensive and slow, at $99 or more a video and 7 to 12 business days per order, and creators need the physical product. We didn't find a TikTok Shop listing import.

What's a cheaper Billo alternative for TikTok Shop?

If you don't need a person on camera, MakeBOF makes AI product videos from your TikTok Shop listings for about $0.20 to $0.38 each on paid plans, and the Free plan gives you 10 credits a month with no card. Start free and try it on a few of your own products. If you want a talking presenter without hiring one, AI avatar tools such as HeyGen are another option.

Is AI UGC as good as human UGC?

It depends on the video. For a testimonial or a demo, a real person's face and voice give viewers something an AI product clip can't. For posting lots of products every day and testing which ones sell, AI costs far less and is ready in minutes, where human UGC takes business days.

How long does Billo take to deliver videos?

Billo's article says turnaround is typically 7 to 12 business days. On MakeBOF a video takes minutes, and a batch keeps going without you, with extra videos queued and started automatically.

Can MakeBOF make videos with a real person talking?

No. MakeBOF makes product-focused clips of about 8 seconds with captions burned on. It has no talking avatars, no AI presenter reading a script and no voiceover. If you need someone speaking, use a human creator service like Billo or an AI avatar tool.

What do Billo reviews say?

On Trustpilot, Billo had a 4.0 rating from 521 reviews when we checked on October 15, 2026. The complaints that come up most are about prepaid funds, fees and how quickly support replies (link in the sources below).
