MakeBOF vs MakeUGC: AI creators or batch TikTok Shop product videos?
MakeUGC makes UGC-style video ads with AI creators: AI people who present a product on camera the way a hired creator would. MakeBOF turns TikTok Shop listings into short product videos, a whole batch at a time. If you're comparing MakeBOF vs MakeUGC, or want a MakeUGC alternative made for TikTok Shop, start with the kind of video you plan to post.
Both tools run on credits, and they price them differently. In MakeBOF a Standard video is 1 credit, so you can work out the price of a video before you sign up. MakeUGC charges credits by model, duration and resolution and doesn't publish a table, so you only learn your real cost per video after you test it.
The short answer
Pick MakeUGC if you want an AI person talking about your product, custom avatars, 4K exports or an API. Pick MakeBOF if you sell or promote on TikTok Shop and want many listings turned into short captioned videos in one go, at a price you can work out up front: $0.38 a video on Pro and about $0.20 on Scale.
Pick MakeBOF if
- You promote TikTok Shop products and would rather paste a product link or shop username than add each product by hand.
- You need lots of different products turned into videos in the same style, in one batch.
- You want a fixed price per video: 1 credit for a Standard video, from $0.38 on Pro down to about $0.20 on Scale.
- You want to start on a free plan with no card, and pay credits only for videos that finish.
- You post from several TikTok accounts and want finished videos sorted by account.
Pick MakeUGC if
- You want an AI person on camera presenting your product, like a UGC ad.
- You want your own custom avatar (1 on Growth, 3 on Pro).
- You need product images as well as videos, or exports in 2K or 4K.
- You want API or MCP access, which comes with every MakeUGC plan.
- You want many variations of one ad from a single brief to test different hooks.

What one short video costs
In MakeBOF a Standard video uses 1 credit. Pro is $19 for 50 credits, so $19 / 50 = $0.38 a video. Max is $49 / 200 = $0.245, and Scale is $99 / 500 = $0.198. Paying for Pro yearly, $190 / 600 credits comes to about $0.32. Premium videos use 2 or more credits, so they cost at least double.
With MakeUGC you can work out a price per credit, but not per video. Starter is $29 for 500 credits, about $0.058 a credit, and Growth is $39 for 1,000, about $0.039 a credit (both billed yearly). MakeUGC says each generation "costs credits based on its model, duration and resolution" and doesn't list the amounts, so the same plan could cover many short 720p clips or far fewer long 4K ones. To find your number, use the $1 trial to make the kind of video you'd actually post and see how much of your credit balance it used.
What is MakeUGC?
MakeUGC is a credit-based studio for UGC-style video and image ads, aimed at direct-to-consumer brands. You pick an AI creator to present your product instead of hiring a person. On Growth and Pro you can also make custom avatars (one and three). Batch Mode, included on every plan, generates variations from one brief, which suits testing several hooks for the same product. Every plan also comes with API and MCP access that draws on the same credit balance as the studio.
Paid plans have no watermark, and MakeUGC says you own what you generate and can use it commercially. There's no free plan. You can try any plan for $1, and the trial renews at the plan price unless you cancel.
Where MakeUGC is the better choice
If your video needs a person in it, use MakeUGC. MakeBOF has no presenters, no voiceover and no script reading. A MakeUGC video can have an AI creator talk through what the product does, a format a lot of paid ads use.
It also does several things MakeBOF doesn't offer at all:
- Custom avatars, so the same AI face can front all your ads.
- Image generation as well as video.
- Exports in HD, 2K and 4K on Growth and Pro.
- API and MCP access on every plan, if you want to plug generation into your own tools.
- More videos at once: 10 on Growth and unlimited on Pro. MakeBOF tops out at 6 on Scale.
Comparing MakeUGC with Arcads or HeyGen as well? Our MakeBOF vs Arcads and MakeBOF vs HeyGen pages cover those two.
Where MakeBOF is the better choice
MakeBOF starts from TikTok Shop. Paste a product link or a shop or creator username and it pulls the listings with their photos, price and sales. You can import in bulk and have a source re-scraped every 1, 6, 12 or 24 hours, so new products show up without you going back for them. MakeUGC doesn't mention TikTok Shop on its site, and we couldn't confirm it can start from a product link.
The two tools use "batch" for different things. MakeUGC's Batch Mode makes variations of one brief. In MakeBOF a batch is many different products in one ready-made style, such as a GirlyPop try-on, a "That Price" in-store find or a Flash Sale promo, and you never write a prompt. Videos generate several at a time, the rest queue and start on their own, and you can watch progress live.
Cost is easier to plan as well. A Standard video is 1 credit and a Premium video is 2, whatever the product, and credits are charged only when a video finishes, so a failed video costs nothing. The free plan gives you 10 credits a month with no card, enough to test it on your own listings before you pay.
Workflow: making 30 product videos in each tool
In MakeBOF
Say you promote 30 products from one TikTok Shop. Paste the shop username and the listings come in with photos, price and sales. Select the 30 you want, pick a style (Flash Sale, for example) and start the batch. On Pro, two videos generate at a time and the others wait their turn; on Max it's four. Each one comes out as a vertical clip of about 8 seconds with captions burned on. With Standard videos that's 30 credits, which fits inside Pro's 50. When they're done, file each video under the TikTok account you'll post it from.
In MakeUGC
We couldn't find a TikTok Shop or product-link import, so plan on adding the 30 products yourself, setting up a brief for each and choosing an AI creator. Batch Mode helps when you want several versions of one product's ad. It does less when every video is a different product, because each product needs its own brief. How many credits the 30 videos use depends on the model, length and resolution you choose.
Cost at real TikTok Shop volume
Posting 5 videos a day across 3 accounts is about 450 videos a month. Here is what MakeBOF costs at a few volumes, using Standard videos (Premium doubles the credits):
- 100 videos a month: Pro ($19, 50 credits) plus a 60-credit pack ($18) gives 110 credits for $37. Max at $49 gives 200 credits and four videos at once.
- 300 videos a month: Max ($49) plus two 60-credit packs ($36) gives 320 credits for $85. Scale at $99 gives 500.
- 450 videos a month: Scale at $99 covers it with 50 credits to spare. That's $99 / 450, about $0.22 a video.
For MakeUGC we can only show credit budgets. To get 450 videos out of Growth's 1,000 credits, each video would need to use about 2 credits or fewer (1,000 / 450 = 2.2). On Pro's 2,000 credits the limit is about 4 a video (2,000 / 450 = 4.4). Run one test in the $1 trial with the settings you'd really use and compare it with those numbers. MakeUGC credits don't roll over, while MakeBOF credit packs never expire.
Questions people ask
How much does MakeUGC cost?
As listed on October 16, 2026: Starter is $29, Growth $39 and Pro $79 a month, all billed yearly, so Starter is $348 paid for the year. Enterprise is custom. The page says yearly billing saves up to 51% (the Pro card says 47%), and we couldn't confirm the month-to-month prices. There's no free plan, but you can try any plan for $1.
Is MakeUGC good for TikTok Shop?
It can make UGC-style videos you could post on TikTok, and it's a good fit if you want an AI person presenting the product. It doesn't mention TikTok Shop on its site, though, and we couldn't confirm it imports products from a link, so expect to add each product yourself. If you post many TikTok Shop products a week, a tool that pulls listings straight from the shop saves that step.
What's a cheaper MakeUGC alternative for TikTok Shop?
MakeBOF has a free plan (10 credits a month, no card) and paid plans from $19 a month. A Standard video is 1 credit, which works out to $0.38 on Pro and about $0.20 on Scale. We can't promise it's cheaper per video than MakeUGC, because MakeUGC doesn't publish how many credits a video uses. It is cheaper to start: $0 or $19 a month against $29 a month billed yearly. You can start free with your own products. Pippit is another option that takes TikTok Shop links.
Can MakeBOF make talking AI creator videos like MakeUGC?
No. MakeBOF has no AI presenters, voiceover or script reading. Each product becomes one vertical clip of about 8 seconds: an AI image of the product turned into video, with captions and emoji burned on. If you need a person on camera, MakeUGC or another avatar tool is the better fit.
What do MakeUGC reviews say?
On Trustpilot, reviewers often praise how realistic the AI actors look, and a recurring complaint is being charged after cancelling. If you start the $1 trial, note the renewal date, since the trial renews at the plan price unless you cancel.
Does MakeUGC have an API?
Yes. MakeUGC includes API and MCP access on every plan at no extra cost, and API calls use the same credit balance as the studio. MakeBOF doesn't offer an API to customers.
Who owns the videos made with MakeUGC or MakeBOF?
MakeUGC says you own what you generate and can use it commercially. With MakeBOF you keep ownership of what you upload and, as far as the law and the AI providers' terms allow, of the videos it generates.
